Today was a lovely day. We started Cut & Sewn Knits today. I was up early, letting the light in for my plants and bustling about getting ready and having breakfast before I went up to Fryckles. Since I'm technically a "lab supervisor" for this lab, I can get into the room using my student ID. I decided I would get there early so I could spend the entire first half hour of FoodShare's day on the phone waiting for them to take me off hold. So I settled in and dialed up. I sat on hold for about ten minutes and a classmate came in. Seeing that only I was there, she commented "Aren't WE just the coolest." We laughed at how lame we are. I sat on hold until five minutes to nine, and then hung up. The room was filling up and class was about to start.
So for the first half of the day we watched a stellar video (VHS Represent!) and worked on the sergers, rethreading them and practicing sewing with them. During lunch I called again, and found out that I can still submit my papers, I just will have to wait for my benefits to begin again. It should be about 10 days to process. Hopefully I'll have benefits by the time the birthday parties roll around!
My assignment wasn't the BEST, but I tried really hard. And sometimes, you just have to move on. So I decided to pretty it up a bit
So I kept scooting around the classroom today, and all the apparel classroom floors have this film of dust on them. It's typical dust compounded with fabric dust. It's gross. My coat kept getting caught under my chair and eventually j.duddly informed me of the collection. beck also told me there was something going on. Her description wasn't sugar coated, she basically told me it looked disgusting. So I checked it out. I didn't REALLY care...I get covered in that sick dust all the time
The picture doesn't do it justice.
Also, sometime today, probably early on, I decided it necessary to brag about my new copy of James and the Giant Peach on VHS. I just had to open my mouth! I'm pretty stoked, I can't help it.
After class I came home and decided I'd make another venison hamburger quesadilla thinger. It was just as delicious. Then I thought, hey I'll make some pumpkin bread. I have this pumpkin bread mix from Trader Joe's.
I thought it'd be fun to put some chocolate chips on the bread as it was cooling. This melted the chocolate and then I spread it all over the top of the bread. The finished product was delicious and I've eaten almost the entire mini loaf I made. This is the pre-spread melting process.
It's been a great day, aside from my parking ticket(s) (didn't mention that did I?). Now I'm winding down with Finding Bigfoot!
we are watching james and the giant peach for our birthday party
