My gnome is at it again

I don't know how many of you know this, but I have this uncanny ability to lose my pinky ring.
A little back story, the ring was made by my best friend e.sum, and he made it for himself, not for me, therefore it has his initials on it. However, I decided I wanted a pinky ring so I took his. Even though he protested, I kept it. HOWEVER, karma persists! I have, to date, lost it and refound it at least five times. However, every time I lose it, it's gone for a few days, sometimes up to two weeks, and then it appears in a very obvious place. The first time my roommate and I searched for days, but never found it. Two weeks later it was sitting on my dresser in the morning, right on the edge. My roommate hadn't found it and no one else had been over.
This past time I lost it, I thought, when I was at the library and I took off a mitten. However, I found it yesterday right in the middle of the doorway into my room.
I'm pretty positive I have a gnome who has his eye on my ring, and borrows it on occasion. However ridiculous, there really is no reason why this works out. It always comes back to me. That is not the case with the pinky ring I recently acquired from my great grandmother's belongings. I lost that one in the New Orleans airport, and it hasn't made it's way back as of yet.
